I’ve been on a bit of a metallic nail polish mission of late, and seem to have picked up 5 different ones in the last couple of weeks. With the festive season almost upon us, which is obviously the perfect time to add some sparkle, I thought I’d share them with you.
From left to right: Nails Inc. Rainbow Wishes, Barry M Galaxy Green, Essie Social-Lights, Barry M Mystic Purple and Nails Inc. Dream Dust
Nails Inc. Rainbow Wishes (from the Sparkle Like A Unicorn Duo) | £15 | available here
Described as a ‘dreamy soft sheen rainbow’ this is a lilac / pink / blue pearlescent shade. It’s very girly and pretty, and it definitely fits in with the unicorn theme.
Barry M Galaxy Green (Boots Limited Edition) | £3.99 | available here
Described as a ‘duochrome green’ this has a green / brown shift which reminds me of eyeshadows like Makeup Geek’s Insomnia or MAC Blue Brown. I have swatched this over a white base and it took a few coats to build up but one coat over a black base gives the same effect.
Essie Social-Lights | £7.99 | available here
Described as ‘shimmer slate gray glistening with amber warmth’ which is a pretty spot on description. Just one coat of this is very opaque so good if you’re in a rush! I loved this shade as soon as I saw it, and had to have it.
Barry M Mystic Purple (Boots Limited Edition) | £3.99 | available here
Described as a ‘duochrome purple’ but I don’t think it’s duochrome as such, more a metallic shimmering purple. It didn’t take as much building up as the Galaxy Green shade though. It reminds me of the classic Cadbury’s purple which is never a bad thing.
Nails Inc. Dream Dust ((from the Sparkle Like A Unicorn Duo) | £15 | available here
Described as a ‘blinding sparkle with 3D pigment’ it’s everyone’s favourite shade of rose gold. Weirdly though, when I tried this over a black base it just looked like green / gold, with not even a hint of pink.
Which is your favourite from my new shades? I think mine is between Social-Lights and Dream Dust. Let me know your favourite in the comments below.
