Glam Glow Supermud Gift Set | REVIEW

Last week, my skin started to break out like crazy, particularly around my jawline. It didn’t feel like a reaction to anything, just my unhealthy lifestyle mixed with hormones seemed to explode on my face. This coincided with me hitting £50 in Boots Advantage Card points so I went online to find some luxurious skincare goodies to try and attack the blemishes.

I have wanted to try the Glam Glow masks for the longest time and thought now would be a good time to try the Supermud mask as it’s supposed to be very effective at clearing problem skin. I found the full size Supermud mask for £42 (available here) and popped it in my basket. Then as I scrolled down the page to the “Customers who viewed this also viewed” section and saw a Glam Glow Supermud Gift Set and clicked on.

The gift set contains a full sized Supermud mask (50g) and 3 mini masks and costs… wait for it… £42 (available here)! How does that work? One product on its own is £42 but a gift set with three extras is also £42? That was a no brainer. I added to basket and quickly turfed out the single mask. The three freebies are Thirstymud, Gravitymud and Youthmud, and are all 15g tubes.

As it’s the main reason I bought the set, I obviously tried out the Supermud mask first. You can definitely use this sparingly as a little goes a long way, so I think this pot will last me ages. The mask dries quite quickly and as it does you see dark spots where any gunk is basically being extracted from your pores – gross but satisfying. I did feel like my face was getting quite warm and was almost throbbing as I left the mask to dry. It wasn’t painful at all but I could tell it was pulling my blood to the skin’s surface which should in theory leave skin looking plumped.

The next one I tried was Thirstymud as all the blemish control skincare I’ve been slathering all over my face had dried my skin out a bit. First of all, I hate the scent – and let me tell you, the scent lingered on my face and hands ALL NIGHT. Anyway, you are supposed to apply a thin layer all over the face, leave for 10-20 minutes and then wipe off and / or massage in the product. I probably used a little too much as it’s clear so was difficult to see where I had already applied product. It tingled slightly after a couple of minutes and felt cooling. Then, being lazy AF, when the time was up I tried just massaging in the product instead of wiping off. In the words of Vivian in Pretty Woman… Big mistake, big, huge. It just balled up between my fingers so I had to hot foot it to the bathroom to wipe it off. After all that, you’d think I’d hate this mask but it did leave my skin feeling incredibly hydrated and silky smooth so I will use it again and maybe put a peg over my nose.

At the weekend I tried Youthmud which is an exfoliating mask. Even though it’s a gritty texture, it was very easy to spread over my face with my brush. Thankfully, this one smelled a lot nicer than the Thirstymud mask. The packaging does warn that it may tingle as it gets to work, which is did slightly. When it was time to remove, I used a muslin cloth and buffed in circles to exfoliate whilst removing. It did take a while because it’s jam packed full of exfoliating beads but man, did my skin feel amazing afterwards. It was so, so soft and looked like brand new skin. Any bits of texture I had on my face had been buffed away and I had a clear glow to my skin. Very impressed by this one. I think this and Thirstymud would make a pretty good combo if you used Youthmud first followed by Thirstymud.

The only one I’m yet to try out is Gravitymud but I will definitely give that a go one evening this week. I’ll give an update on my Instagram stories, so be sure to follow me over there if you’re not already.

Have you tried anything from Glam Glow? If so, what’s your hero product? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you so much for reading

  1. That is such a good value set. I have wanted to try Supermud of course but I can’t bring myself to part with so much money for something that I know so many more affordable masks can do. But this set seems very appealing. I’ve used the black tube before and just couldn’t understand those bits in it lol! xxx
