Welcome to 2018 | UPDATE

First off, let me start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I hope you all had an awesome time over the holidays and festive period. Other than being full of cold, my Christmas and New Year break was fab – I went to two weddings, spent time with almost all family members, ate way too much food and spent plenty of time catching up on sleep.

Now it’s time to look forward to 2018 and what I plan to achieve. My resolutions are pretty much the same every year – drink more water, lose a couple of stone, read more books etc. And this year is no different, except for one addition…

You might have noticed that I’ve been pretty much absent from my social media and the blog posts came to an abrupt stop since the end of November. I’m not going to sit here and write a load of excuses – the very simple reason is that I went away at the end of November / beginning of December and haven’t got back into the swing since I returned! I also had some domain issues as I’ve moved from Wix to WordPress and somehow the transfer didn’t go to plan so that’s been something I’ve been trying to resolve. As of today, I think it’ll be sorted over the next week though so fingers crossed.

I’ve had my little break and now I’m back ready to start again for the new year. I’ve written myself a list of ideas to get me started and I’ve cleared some space in our spare room for a photography set up. So stick around for some makeup and skincare reviews, tags, hauls and lots of other goodness on Rinky Dinky Rhi.

Thanks for sticking around – I promise to be a better blogger in 2018. Now let’s do this!!

  1. Hey girl! Great read.

Out of curiosity, why did you change from Wix to WordPress? I was thinking of doing the opposite and eventually going to Wix – it looks more user-friendly.

Would love to hear your thoughts as I need to do my research!

    Thanks xx

    1. Hiya.
In terms of the site layout, Wix is great as it’s very flexible when trying to move elements around but that can also make it more difficult to get it looking perfect. I always had troubles with the image editing element as more often than not it wouldn’t load so I’d have to open and close it about 5 times to get it to work. I’ve not found Wix support to be very helpful most of the time either, whereas WordPress having the chat facility has been really useful. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when my comments suddenly stopped working – I’d just have one comments log which showed on every page so I wasn’t having comments specific to each post anymore. When I contacted support they basically said ‘we’re aware of the problem but don’t know how to fix it’ and weeks later there was no resolution. So far, I’m really pleased with WordPress though. It’s a bit more rigid in terms of really making it your own theme (well for someone with no HTML know-how anyway!) but I’m just more concerned about my content and engagement being right.
I hope that’s been of some help : ) xx

  2. I’m so glad you’ve changed from Wix – they’re websites are coded so badly under the bonnet that they don’t do any justice for your content appearing in search engines! I work with converting them a lot at work and the uplift is views etc is usually incredible as google can now read your blog properly!
Looking forward to reading all your content in 2018! xxx
