When I went to Las Vegas at the end of last year (Oh, you went to Vegas Rhi? Why didn’t you mention it?!) one of the ranges I was really desperate to check out in Sephora was Fenty Beauty. Yes, it’s available in the UK but I don’t live near any Harvey Nichols stores and I really wanted to swatch before buying online. I really had intentions of getting a foundation but unfortunately they had sold out of my shade. So in the end I ended up buying two of the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duos and the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminzer.
After swatching all the highlighting products, I honestly couldn’t choose just one of the Highlighter Duos so in the end I chucked my two faves in my basket. The ones I went for were Mean Money / Hu$tla Baby and Lightning Dust / Fire Crystal.
Mean Money – soft champagne sheen
Hu$tla Baby – supercharged peachy champagne shimmer.
Lightning Dust – soft pearlescent sheen.
Fire Crystal – supercharged pearlescent shimmer.
In each duo, there is a more subtle glow powder and a more sparkly powder. When I swatched these in Sephora I instantly loved them but I have to be honest, when I tried them out properly after buying them I was a little disappointed. They came off quite glittery on my cheeks which I’m not a huge fan of. But I have found that they are very buildable and you’re almost better off going in with a heavy hand to make them look more dewy and blinding. I always layer the two shades, first applying the subtle side and topping with the sparkly side. Now I know how to work best with them, I love the formula. I also love using these powders as eyeshadows.
I couldn’t possibly leave the Fenty Beauty counter without picking up the Gloss Bomb. When everything first launched and I saw influencers applying it, I knew I had to have it. Up until recently, I hated lip gloss! But now I pretty much wear it every day. I can’t say this lip gloss is what converted me, in fact I think it was the Elizabeth Arden Prismatic Glosses which did it. I’ve realised that gloss has come a long way since I used it back in the day. No longer do we have to settle for sticky, gloopy gloss.
When I said before that I’ve been wearing lip gloss pretty much every day, nine times out of ten, it’s been this gloss. The fine glitter in the gloss is not gritty at all, it just catches the light making it look shiny and plumping on the lips. It looks quite dark in the heavy swatch above, but it really is universal because on the lips it’s pretty much clear. I’ve tried it with a few different shades of lip liners and it works with all of them. It smells like yummy sweets. I can say with no hesitation that this is my favourite lip gloss ever.
As I said at the start, the Fenty Beauty range is available in the UK through Harvey Nichols. The Killawatt Freestyle Highlighting Duos are £26 each (available here and here) and the Gloss Bomb is £16 (available here). If you haven’t tried anything from the range yet, I’d highly recommend checking these out. I’ve definitely got more products on my wishlist now.
