For anyone who hasn’t heard of / seen Amrezy, let me tell you that she is 100% GLOW GOALS. Nobody shines like her, she’s unreal. So as soon as her collaboration with Anastasia Beverley Hills was announced I knew it was going to be all of our glowing dreams come true. I haven’t been this excited about a highlighter launch since the Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop hysteria. Therefore, as a self-confessed highlighter obsessive I felt it my duty to buy it and to review it for you all.
As soon as I could, I signed up for alerts on the ABH website so I didn’t miss the launch. You’d better believe that when that email hit my inbox, it was in my cart quicker than you could say “But it’s the day before pay day!” Isn’t that what overdrafts are for – emergencies?!
On the ABH website there is the following description and quote from the glowing goddess herself:
The limited edition Amrezy Highlighter is an illuminating powder that achieves the perfect glow. With the feel of second-skin, this ultra-smooth formula delivers a radiant finish and reflects a light, brilliant gold.
“I live for the perfect glow – it’s a constant focus in my makeup routine. I’m always looking for the most luminous glow with a natural, second skin finish. This collaboration with ABH brings my highlighter dreams to life, and I’m so happy to share this “sun in a compact” with my Rezy riders.”
The packaging is beautifully sleek and high quality. I love the black with rose gold and the little twinkly stars. This is a small thing to get excited about but I love the push button to open the compact. I hate the ones which just click into place and you have to jam a nail in to pop it open! Again, it just shows that it’s higher quality because the attention has been paid to these little things. It also contains a mirror with the ABH logo on it. The highlighter is pressed into waves and looks like a piece of silk and it really shows just how shimmering the highlighter is.
I knew as soon as I set eyes on this that I would love it and it’d be my new favourite highlighter. And I was right. This might sound dramatic, but I honestly gasped and put my hand to my chest (in a pearl-clutch-esque way) when I first tried using it. It looked so perfect. There was a moment before buying it that I thought maybe it’d be too gold on my skin tone but I’d seen some swatches and thought as long as I tread lightly I’ll be able to make it work. But actually it doesn’t translate to being too gold at all – it’s a very light, almost champagne, gold.
It’s also not as intimidating as I thought it could be. It’s definitely buildable to a blinding finish but the first layer is actually very flattering, and as promised, skin-like. It’s a very smooth formula which is not chunky or glittery, and creates a wet-look appearance on the skin.
Now as always with me, the ONLY thing I don’t like about this product is that it’s limited edition so I start to hold back on using it so as not to run out. It’s something I’m working on as I do this with everything, meaning I then have drawers full of barely touched products which I get out every now and then to use sparingly and admire. What would really help though is if this could be made a permanent fixture please, thank you.
If you couldn’t tell already, I’m obsessed with the ABH x Amrezy highlighter. It’s officially my new fave. I bought mine from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website for £29 and unbelievably it’s still in stock here. I strongly suggest you go and buy it immediately. I’m even tempted to buy a back up for myself.
What do you think? Is this your kind of highlighter? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you so much for reading…
