When I was younger, my Mum discovered QVC and she was completely hooked! I very quickly learned about new brands and just exactly what the TSV was (Today’s Special Value – basically, their deal of the day). Now I’m quite similar to my Mum so I avoid watching QVC because they could be talking about anything and if I watch it for long enough, I’ll convince myself that I need it. But QVC have also got UK exclusivity for Tarte which means I do check out their site from time to time.
I was being really sensible in January and trying not to buy any more new makeup. But then I heard that QVC’S TSV was a Becca bundle and I just had to have a look. My only real experience with Becca is on their highlighting products, both powder and liquid and I love them. So when I saw the Complexion and Glow Collection, I was intrigued. Then I saw the price…
I was feeling spendy with Christmas money and headed into Debenhams with one foundation in my sights. Jamie Genevieve (YouTube and Instagram goddess and my number one girl crush) had been raving about the Yves Saint Laurent All Hours foundation for a while and I knew I had to try it. I headed for the YSL counter and picked out my shade. Then while the lovely sales assistant was finding it for me, my inner magpie spied the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer in all its golden glittery goodness. I pumped a bit onto my hand and not only was it gorgeously sparkly, it felt silky smooth. Before my brain could catch up, my mouth had asked for one of those to be added to my bag too.
I was scrolling though Twitter earlier this week and I don’t know what sparked it but I had a *ping blog post idea* moment. This hasn’t happened very often in my blogging life – I don’t consider myself to be a very innovative or creative person, I just like talking about makeup and stuff. Now, I’m not saying that this has never been done before, in fact there’s probably a tag going around but I haven’t seen any posts of this nature before so I’m going with it.
The idea is to look through my collection and put together a full face of makeup using all my most expensive products. It will be a two part series (does two constitute a series?!), with the second part coming next week. The second part will be the opposite end of the spectrum, a full face using, yep you guessed it, my least expensive products. I’m toying with the idea of doing a third part with a half and half makeup look to compare the two to see whether it’s worth spending more on certain products – now that I have seen before, but they’re more ‘a full face of dupes’ type posts.
