I had an idea when driving to work one morning to do a series where every Monday in March I review a different mascara. I wanted to call it something really clever and catchy… but when I couldn’t come up with anything I settled for March’s Mascara Mondays. Look, I’m not the most creative girl and nor do I claim to be, OK?!
The first mascara review I’m bringing you is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara which I finally got my mitts on when I received it as a Christmas present. I’d heard so much about this mascara for years so when my lovely in-laws were asking for present ideas I asked for this.
I was feeling spendy with Christmas money and headed into Debenhams with one foundation in my sights. Jamie Genevieve (YouTube and Instagram goddess and my number one girl crush) had been raving about the Yves Saint Laurent All Hours foundation for a while and I knew I had to try it. I headed for the YSL counter and picked out my shade. Then while the lovely sales assistant was finding it for me, my inner magpie spied the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer in all its golden glittery goodness. I pumped a bit onto my hand and not only was it gorgeously sparkly, it felt silky smooth. Before my brain could catch up, my mouth had asked for one of those to be added to my bag too.
I hadn’t consciously planned on sharing gift guide posts, but with this post and my recent Glamglow Supermud Gift Set post (read it here) it seems to have fallen perfectly in line with Christmas shopping time. Except the truth of the matter is, I bought these for myself and not with anyone else in mind #sorrynotsorry.
I was browsing on Debenhams recently, as I had some store credit from some returns and was feeling like treating myself. I picked up the Nails Inc. Sparkle Like A Unicorn nail duo (featured in this post), a replacement MAC Extended Play Gigablack mascara (which is the ONLY mascara I will use on my lower lashes) and then started looking at the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks. You might have seen in my Most Worn Liquid Lipsticks post (read it here) that I featured Bow n Arrow by KVD and given how much I love the formula I wanted to try some more shades. Then I spotted the Mini Lipstick Set.
The Kat Von D Alchemist Palette aka the ‘Looks Like Nothing in the Pan but Looks Amazing When Swatched’ palette – but I guess that’s not quite as catchy. Back in July, I was lucky enough to receive some Debenhams vouchers for my birthday and I knew there was only one thing I wanted to spend them on. I can’t see it on the Debenhams website now though, so I’ve linked the KVD website here where you can see some awesome swatches (much better than mine!).
The palette cost me £25 which I actually think is very reasonable considering you can buy one highlight from some brands for that price. For something a bit special and unique, I definitely think it’s worth the money.
